  1. 30 years of Victorian Floor Tiles!

30 years of Victorian Floor Tiles! 2020 is an exciting year for us here at Original Style because we’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of our iconic Victorian Floor Tile collection!   Our authentic collection began in 1990 and since then we’ve established an extensive range of shapes, colours, patterns and borders alongside hand-crafted decorative tiles. Over the last 30 years, Victorian Floor Tiles have become even more popular, especially for those renovating period properties. The introduction of more contemporary colours has enabled homeowners to create a wider range of looks, in modern muted greys and chic neutrals as well as the more traditional, red, buff and monochrome palettes.   With such a rich history and a seemingly flourishing future, we thought we’d take this opportunity to look through some of the most interesting, inspiring and unusual Victorian Floor Tile installations throughout the last three decades and explore just how timeless these tiles are.   Making it monochrome When you think about Victorian Floor tiles you might envisage a beautiful black and white checkerboard path, or entryway into a period style property and this classic style is still one of the most popular today. There are few colour combinations that have as wide reaching and universal appeal as black and white – whether your style is contemporary, traditional, glamorous or even low key, you can always achieve it with this classic colour combo. Use alone for a striking and bold impression or as a base for adding pops of colour. There’s no denying the impact of this classic look and it’s no surprise that the monochrome style is still so popular – just look at these gorgeous installations!   Creating something unique If you’re a bit more adventurous and want to create something a bit different, our Victorian Floor tiles are definitely for you. Many people automatically assume that Victorian-style tiles can only be used in traditional patterns and layouts but this isn't the case. As patterns are made up of individual pieces in a range of shapes, you can create something entirely bespoke that suits your taste. Intricate patterns with lots of colours and shapes create a completely new dynamic and can be paired with modern touches, like metallics, velvets and lots of greenery for a fresh and vibrant feel. Whether it’s your hallway, path, lounge, kitchen or bathroom, Victorian Floor Tiles will really add that ‘wow’ factor!   In neutral Sometimes less is more and opting for a neutral colourway is a great way to add some understated impact. With warmer tones becoming more and more popular, these beige, taupe and mink hues are perfect for adding both warmth and elegance to a space – and these installations are some of the most stunning we’ve seen!   Keeping it vintage Many of the most striking Victorian Floor Tile installations are those which incorporate the more traditional colours of red, buff, green and even blue as well as decorative ‘drop in’ tiles. These colours are perfect for recreating authentic features of a period property and they’ve stood the test of time in their style and design, making them a timeless choice. Our selection of exclusive hand-crafted decorative tiles are designed and manufactured at our production site in Exeter, Devon, these beautiful pieces can be used as drop-ins within a Victorian Floor Tile pattern and/or border for added detail and timeless charm. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates on our Victorian Floor Tile collection throughout 2020 and if you’re thinking about using these tiles in your home, visit your local retailer for more information, advice and ideas.  Read more...
  2. The Path to Perfection

The Path to Perfection Nothing says “welcome to our house” quite like a beautiful, inviting front path. That’s why we were thrilled to work with 2LG Studio on their front garden transformation, which featured products from two of our most cherished collections – Victorian Floor Tiles and Artworks.   A Victorian Floor Tile pathway can completely transform a home, adding kerb appeal and value to a property.  And, with the emergence of the ‘New Heritage’ trend, you don’t have to live in a Victorian or Edwardian home to embrace traditional tiling. Mixing the old with the new and putting a modern twist on a classic is what this trend is all about and what better way to encapsulate on this style than through incorporating Victorian Floor Tiles into a contemporary setting. “How?” you may ask - well, these tiles work beautifully in modern porches, pathways as well as hallways and by opting for a classic colour palette such as monochrome or beige and nudes, these tiles will never look out of place.   Jordan and Russell - the London-based design duo from 2LG Studio – decided on an original approach featuring modern greys for the front path and deep, dark blue Artworks tiles on their porch walls. While remaining inspired by Victorian features, they created a pathway with a cool and modern, almost urban vibe, but kept it true to its origins. They also used our traditional mouldings on the walls, which look fantastic against their gorgeous, playful, pink front door. Through combining modern styling with the traditional, they’ve created a stand-out entrance that turns heads and encourages a smile from passers-by.   2LG’s front garden project showcases that the attractiveness of a property is not based solely on its interior. The surrounding space is equally important - especially when looking to sell. Making a good first impression starts outside, as the front path and entrance are the first things a potential buyer will see. It is also an area that is constantly exposed to guests, neighbours, and…you, the homeowner, on a daily basis – so, why not make the effort to make it look grand?! “We think of the pathway as a visitor’s journey into our world. It starts right then and there, before they enter the house, and we wanted to make that journey enjoyable.” Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead, 2LG Studio. “We were looking for a solution which would elevate the property’s heritage and period features, but would also stand the test of time both in terms of durability and looks. Original Style’s heritage collections – Victorian Floor Tiles and wall tiles from the Artworks range – were the perfect answer to our long list of demands, including high quality and being able to create a bespoke design.” No matter whether your property has a small, medium or large approach, there are ways to make the front path and porch stand out. The easiest and most practical option is to use tiles that are not only stunning, but also work well outdoors. If your goal is to recreate a Victorian pattern as a nod to the home’s history, opt for a classic colour combo, using black, buff and red. Original Style’s Victorian Floor Tiles are the real deal – they come in traditional colourways and a variety of patterns, making it possible to achieve any period look and restore the tiled area to its former glory. Pair these with traditional glazes from the Artworks range and you’ll end up with a scheme that’s elegant and timeless. To read more about 2LG Studio's front garden renovation, head to their journal. 3. 2LG Studio present their top interior trends for 2020

2LG Studio present their top interior trends for 2020 Each year, Original Style works closely with leading designers and interior experts to apprehend what colours, styles and schemes will embrace the interior scene in the upcoming year. As one of the UK’s leading tile manufacturers and suppliers, staying ahead of the curve is imperative and we’re pleased to announce that this year we’ve teamed up with London-based interior design duo, 2LG Studio, to bring you THE top tile trend predictions for 2020…   New Heritage - a modern twist on an old classic   Think decorative details, fine craftsmanship and timeless colourways and you’ve begun to embody a New Heritage interior style. Through incorporating classic qualities of historical interior décor alongside modern influences, you can create a space that withstands the test of time whilst ensuring your home never goes out of style.   Tiles have been a staple within interiors for centuries and despite the evolution of various formats and finishes, it’s the traditional styles that turn heads time after time - from the quintessentially British Victorian Floor Tiles through to artisan glazed and decorative tiles such as Original Style’s Artworks and Winchester tile collections.   “What’s wonderful about the New Heritage trend is that you don’t have to have to a period property to embrace it! It’s all about capitalizing on momentous historic décor, such as from Victorian, Edwardian and Art Déco movements, and adapting and mixing these styles to suit your interior – think Victorian Floor Tiles in modern colourways and rich, deep glazed tiles in contemporary formations such as herringbone or stack bond. Take something old and add a modern twist – this is what New Heritage is all about.” – Jordan Cluroe & Russell Whitehead, 2LG Studio.     Iridescence – fresh, fun and vivifying For those who enjoy being more playful with their interiors, the cool pastel shades and radiant surfaces that comprise the iridescent trend will be alluring. Taking influence from the mesmerising Aurora Borealis, you can incorporate an iridescent scheme to create your very own light show. “Iridescent homeware has been creeping into the interiors scene of late and we predict this trend is only going to become bigger and bolder during 2020. It’s no secret that light, both natural and artificial, can make a huge difference to the look and feel of a home and through incorporating reflective surfaces and soft colourways you can help a space feel brighter and livelier.  “Embrace this look with varied intensities; be daring with the glossy glass iridescent brick tiles from Original Style’s Glassworks collection – we LOVE ‘Pink Frost’! – Or if you want to go a step further, the fish scale iridescent mosaic is a real show stopper. For a more subtle take, a square field tile with a lustre finish will also help you achieve a light bouncing, iridescent vibe. “With people becoming more daring with their interior style, we advise our clients to incorporate design that bring them happiness and if iridescence doesn’t do that, then we don’t know what will!” – Jordan Cluroe & Russell Whitehead, 2LG Studio.     Texture Play - creating atmosphere through surfaces Incorporating natural materials and bringing the outside in has been a popular movement within interiors for decades, but now – thanks to advancements in inkjet technology – this look can be achieved through tiles. Stone, wood, concrete and marble-effects are all available in porcelain tile for a result that’s not only realistic – honestly, they look and feel just like their original counterparts! – but also wonderfully practical. “When it comes to texture play, it’s all about mixing up surface finishes within a space. In modern interiors, simply looking good isn’t good enough – during 2020, we’re anticipating an emphasis on how design feels. This new look, full of contrasts, is based on texture pairing; rough with smooth and matt with gloss, in order to achieve an atmospheric look and sensory experience that draws the eye and encourages touch. “This look can be achieved through installing flooring with a matt finish, such as Original Style’s Victorian Floor Tiles or a stone-effect tile such as ‘Mediterraneo’, in addition to a wall tile with a glossy glaze. Alternatively, you can switch it up with a polished floor tile and a matt, textured wall tile such as ‘Fusuma’. It’s also important not to forget the accessories as this is another opportunity to add another texture dynamic such as with brushed metal taps and coarse fabrics” – Jordan Cluroe & Russell Whitehead, 2LG Studio.     So - there you have it, the top trend predictions for 2020! What we love about Jordan and Russell’s predictions is that they’re all completely different but equally beautiful in their own way. Research shows that people are becoming braver within their interiors and are searching for ways to inject more personality into their homes. These trends personify this movement as there’s an appeal for all characters whether classic, spirited or experimental. Which of these trends will you embrace in your home during 2020 Read more...
  4. Tile of the Year 2020 – Behind the scenes!

Tile of the Year 2020 – Behind the scenes! Inspiring, fun and fabulous! We knew teaming up with 2LG was going to be an extraordinary experience and we certainly weren’t disappointed...   Our Tile of the Year Journey When we first launched our Tile of the Year campaign back in 2017, we were stepping into uncharted territory. Taking influence from the likes of Pantone, we were the first company in the tile industry to nominate a ‘Tile of the Year’ based on upcoming interior trend predictions and oh boy! nobody could have prepared us for the overwhelming response that we’ve had from this campaign. From the press coverage right through to feedback from our customers, everyone has jumped on the Tile of the Year wagon, so this time around it was a natural progression to take the campaign to the next level. Experts in their field, Jordan and Russell from 2LG Studio are a fountain of knowledge when it comes to interior design and with their own original, audacious, colourful style – a collaboration between Original Style and 2LG Studio was a natural pairing. Furthermore, when we first saw ‘Deco Tayberry’ fresh out of our kilns, the berry pink and arch formations screamed ‘2LG!’ and so our campaign for ‘Tile of the Year 2020’ was born. The preceding months saw a plethora of activity from set designs to video shoots and working with Jordan and Russell has been so much fun! Being involved in the duo’s creative process has been wonderfully inspiring and by pushing the design boundaries with our Deco Tayberry they were able to showcase the beautiful, artisanal elements of this handcrafted tile in conjunction with contemporary influences. Designing the hero shot for the campaign, Jordan and Russell worked closely with our photography studio to create the below set. Through embedding the tiles into an arch formation, the bathroom décor mimicked the art-deco inspired curves in Deco Tayberry’s design and by incorporating accessories with matt finishes, such as with the sink from Kast Concrete Basins, the planter bench from MADE.com and the striking wall lights from Spark & Bell, the tiles glossy glaze was accentuated. The finished article was truly stunning and it’s energising to see a peripheral interpretation when it comes to styling Deco Tayberry. Handcrafted in Devon Part of our Winchester tile collection, Deco Tayberry is traditional in terms of how it’s manufactured but its sophisticated colourway and art-deco design brings the tile into a more contemporary realm – the epitome of the ‘New Heritage’ trend (more on this later…). If you’re wondering who the brain behind our gorgeous Deco Tayberry is, meet Jane Addis - our New Products & Design Manager. It’s because of Jane and her talented design and production team that we’re able to bring you exclusive products that are ahead of the trend curve and provide a tile choice that’s out of the ordinary. Alongside all other products in our Winchester collection, creating Deco Tayberry from concept to production is a timely process. First and foremost, a significant amount of trend research is undertaken to understand design movements before moving onto pattern design which typically involves hand-drawing or painting alongside digital illustration. What follows after this is dependent on the tile design and format, but in the case of Deco Tayberry, these tiles are created using an age-old screen printing method where inks are transferred onto the tile in the desired templated pattern before being glazed and transferred to the kiln. The inks in the pattern are reactive and so each kiln produces a different kind of effect, so each tile is truly a miniature work of art with its own character – no two tiles are the same – how wonderful is that?! Shooting our Tile of the Year 2020 Launch Video A beautiful summer’s day in August saw the Original Style marketing team take the trip up to London from their offices in Exeter, Devon to shoot the Tile of the Year 2020 announcement with 2LG Studio. Taking over our tile showroom in Clerkenwell, over 100 Deco Tayberry tiles were in situ alongside various props from MADE.com as well as a film and photography crew – the showroom was bustling with enthusiasm and creativity. Jordan and Russell, as anticipated, were a joy to work with and their love for Deco Tayberry shone through. Discussing its design, upcoming trends and various ways to use Deco Tayberry within a home, the video provided the tile with the attention that it deserves and 2LG were the perfect duo to endorse this gorgeous product. So, there we go! We hope you enjoyed seeing a snippet of the action ‘behind the scenes’ of our Tile of the Year 2020 campaign. We had such a great time working with 2LG Studio and we’re absolutely thrilled with the response to Deco Tayberry to date. Here’s to Tile of the Year 2021! We wonder what it will be…   Read more...
  5. Incorporating large format tiles into your home with our new Tileworks collection

Incorporating large format tiles into your home with our new Tileworks collection Large format contemporary tiles are still a popular choice for homeowners and there’s no sign of the trend slowing down any time soon! So, to keep our collection of large format, contemporary tiles up to date, we’ve refreshed it to include some truly beautiful new options, from gorgeous golden wood effect tones, to bang-on-trend terrazzo styles, there’s plenty to be inspired by.   Deciding on a kitchen style can be stressful, not only are there decisions to be made on cabinetry, colour schemes and fixtures and fittings, but consideration also needs to be given to practicality. Tiles are a natural choice for any kitchen, whether it’s contemporary or classic in style. For kitchens, large-format tiles are arguably the best choice. Larger surface areas and fewer grout lines make for easier cleaning, meaning they’re hygienic whilst remaining chic and stylish.   Featured above are Nord Ris - a cement effect tile in cool, soft tones of grey - and Kaamos, an elegant and refined stone look. Both options are perfect for floors, team them with natural colours and textures like wood, marble and exposed brick for a cool and contemporary look that also has a warm and welcoming feel.   Beautiful Bathrooms Bathrooms also benefit from the properties of large-format tiles, especially in smaller areas where they can make a room look much bigger than it really is, helping to create a sense of scale that doesn't naturally exist. But more obviously, their grand scale can really make a bathroom look amazing!   For a totally on-trend spa-style bathroom take a look at Mediterraneo. It's extra-large format (900 x 900mm) and has a light yet bold texture with a rustic feel available in three gorgeous shades. Use on walls and floors for a seamless look. For a really opulent feel check out Bianco Oro, a marble effect tile with beautiful gold veining. This highly polished glazed porcelain tile is available in two large format sizes (900x900mm and 1200x600mm) and perfect for those looking to create a luxurious feel. We’ve teamed it with Boreal Natural, a wood effect tile with widely varying faces, to add warmth and depth. If neither of those tick your boxes, try the soft travertine effects of Mescla. It's neutral tones and subtle texture effects will work in many bathroom settings. There’s also St Martin with subtle veining and sophisticated grey shades to fashion a high-end smooth finish.   Stylish Spaces If you’re looking to update your hallway, it’s really worth considering tiles; you only need to search for hallway ideas on Pinterest to see why so many people are installing tiles into their hallways. Not only do they look fantastic but they are also ideal for enduring the heavy traffic of everyday life. Below we’ve styled our Pietra Lombarda terrazzo style tiles with minimalist furniture and accessories for a sleek yet Scandi vibe. These tiles work well in open plan living, with beautiful detailing that replicates the 'Ceppo de Gré' style of natural stone which features large flecks and rich detailing. Large format tiles are also ideal for utility rooms and can be used on walls and floors to create stylish yet practical spaces. Peggy Grigio featured below has a buffed concrete texture and works well when teamed with neutral tones.   Take a look at our entire Tileworks collection and if you’ve already got your eye on something, visit your nearest local retailer for samples and more information Read more...
  6. Tile of the Year 2020 revealed!

Tile of the Year 2020 revealed! It’s here, it’s pink, it’s small format and it’s square: Deco Tayberry is Original Style’s Tile of the Year 2020.   After much deliberation, anticipation, discussion, planning (and even voting!) Original Style’s Tile of the Year for 2020 has landed. We are very excited to announce that the sophisticated, sumptuous and classic in design Deco Tayberry - part of Original Style’s Winchester collection of handcrafted English tiles - is set to be the must-have tile in the upcoming year. This year Original Style is making its choice known to the world with the help of 2LG studio – a brilliant British interior design duo, who also happen to be well-known digital influencers and Metro columnists. They absolutely loved Deco Tayberry and were very happy to endorse it, as well as assist with the project’s official launch. How excited are we about that? We are very excited! Take a look at our Tile of the Year 2020 promotional video to see just how excited we all are!     Original Style has been nominating a Tile of the Year for the last three years. We are the first business in the tile industry to do so, but we are especially proud of this year’s choice, whose real beauty is reflected in its hand-crafted nature. Designed in-house at Original Style’s factory in Devon, Deco Tayberry is the epitome of British design. Each tile is hand-crafted by skilled artisans using the age-old screen printing method which, alongside its reactive inks, means each kiln produces a different effect, so no two tiles are the same. Deco Tayberry is available through a network of carefully selected retailers and cannot be purchased online. This is because we strongly believe in the traditional customer experience, which is based on examining the product in real life, talking to a tile specialist, and being able to count on advice and support offered by our stockists. In order to purchase the Tile of the Year 2020, please head over to our find a retailer page and find a showroom near you.  “As interior designers, we approach our projects with one eye on the past and the other on the future. Deco Tayberry is the perfect representation of this motto. Square in format and with an arch motif, this gorgeous tile is a contemporary twist on classic tiling. Moving forward from the currently popular ‘millennial pink’, Original Style’s Tile of the Year’s blush and berry tones provide a softer approach, embracing the new heritage trend” - Jordan Cluroe and Russell Whitehead, 2LG Studio.  “Vibrancy through colour is beginning to play a big part in interior schemes. It’s exciting to see people being bolder with their interior choices and during 2020 we’re expecting to see customers integrate more statement designs through greater injection of personality and individuality” – Jane Addis, Original Style’s New Products & Design Manager. Through the combination of age-old production methods and contemporary style influences, this captivating tile isn’t just aesthetically pleasing but it also evokes personality and charm. With homeowners now branching out with their own design styles, the vision for 2020 is the embrace of heritage design, colour and individuality and Deco Tayberry is the perfect reflection of this interior design movement. We hope you like it!…but if you’re not that bold with colours, relax. You can still be on trend – with the arch motif and a nod to the timeless appeal of Art Deco – by choosing a less challenging colourway. Deco Tayberry is part of the newly launched Manoir tile range, where soft yet vibrant glazes have been paired with intricate geometric patterns. Opt for a Papyrus, Pumice or Mint base with the Deco print to achieve a similar look, but in soft shades of green or blue. These designs make for a perfect singular statement but they also work very well together mixed in a melange. If by reading this blog entry you accidentally fell in love with the whole artisanal collection of Winchester tiles, please download the entire brochure and find yourself spoilt for choice. 7. Patterned Tiles: Stylish Designs for Walls

Patterned Tiles: Stylish Designs for Walls As well as colour and shape, texture and pattern are also key elements in interior design. So why not introduce some pattern into your tiling scheme to add interest and colour - whether you want to add a touch of flair to your country kitchen, or a statement to your contemporary bathroom, using patterned tiles can transform any area of the home.   Patterned tiles have grown in popularity as they bring instant impact and transform a room. They are also very durable, which makes them a practical choice for the home. We have lots of decorative tiles available in all sorts of sizes and formats, from bold patterns to create a real statement, to soft pastel tones, here’s some ideas to help you find a style to suit you and your home. Playing around with colour and pattern is sometimes daunting, but a kitchen or bathroom can be transformed into something truly unique with patterned tiles. A patterned splashback is a great place to start if you only want to incorporate a little bit of pattern to your interior décor. For something completely new, take a look at our new Manoir range. The irresistibly soft designs of Manoir feature 6 intricate geometric patterns, which are perfect for creating a refreshingly cool and contemporary look. Beautifully crafted and hand-finished, you can create a patchwork effect by randomly mixing the patterns in a melange, or choose one design to add charm and charisma to any interior. Manoir tiles are perfect for those looking to create a feature wall, especially if your customers are looking for a way to inject a bit of personality and style into a practical space. They needn’t tile entire walls either, just the areas which are prone to spills and splashes making splashbacks a great area for the Manoir collection. Gently catching the light, Manoir tiles add warmth and atmosphere to space. They can be teamed with coordinating plain tiles in the range as well as with mouldings. All of which are on existing Winchester base colours, Papyrus, Mint, Tayberry, and Pumice.   Patterned tiles can be mixed and matched to create a beautiful and unique patchwork, allowing addition of colour and interest to a plain wall.   Mosaics can also be used to cover an expanse of wall, or in many cases as strip borders and accents when teamed with other tiles. We have a huge number of Mosaics for walls that have decorative motifs and textured pieces, these look great in a bathroom either as a panel or to line an alcove. Mosaics have always been in style and they are a brilliant way to add an individual touch to your home in so many different ways. As well as being beautiful to look at, mosaics are incredibly practical. If you want to add interest with a plain tile; how the tiles are laid will have a big influence on how a space is viewed and feels. Playing with angles is another good way to add pattern and interest to your design. The most common and simplest tile layout is ‘Straight’ (or Stack bond). This means the tiles are laid in straight lines so the grout lines end up like a grid. Herringbone is an increasingly popular tile pattern, with an elegant and high-end finish. The striking, angular effect achieved with this pattern makes it perfect for accent walls and statement finishes.   As always you can get more inspiration from our Pinterest, Facebook & Instagram, and if you need help with choosing, why not visit your local retailer for advice and guidance Read more...
  8. 5 Kitchen style ideas using tiles

5 Kitchen style ideas using tiles The kitchen is the heart of the home and often a difficult project to design whilst prioritising practicality. A great deal of thought goes into the look and feel of cabinetry, lighting, paint colours, furniture, fixtures and fittings, but does as much consideration go into selecting tiles? Many homeowners opt for paint on the walls to avoid having to install tiles, but this can be a false economy. Both wall and floor tiles provide a clean and hygienic surface that won’t be damaged by cooking splashes or constant wiping and can really enhance the finished look of the space.   Natural and neutral It’s no surprise that many of us opt for natural and neutral colour schemes; they’re simply beautiful and add a cosy feeling, thanks to the warm undertones of browns, creams and taupes found in a natural colour palette. These shades reflect the warm rustic shades of the earth and can be enlivened with dark leafy greens or coppers and golds for a touch of glamour. If this is the style you’re looking to create, it’s worth considering wood-effect floor tiles. Natural wood flooring can be high maintenance and subject to damp, woodworm and the scratches and scuffs of everyday life.  With the developments in ink-jet tile printing, wood-effect floor tiles now look as good as the real thing; check out the full range here. For wall tiles, white brick tiles complement wooden worktops, cabinetry and rustic furnishings perfectly. For a really organic feel opt for natural stone. Here, we’ve teamed Natural Slate in Burnt Sienna with Levantine ivory wall tiles for the perfect country kitchen in soft neutral tones, for that blissful homely feeling.       Keep it simple with Field Tiles There’s a reason field tiles have remained a staple trend in tiling and interiors for decades. They are a classic choice and simple enough to work in harmony with so many kitchen styles, with the option of different colours, sizes and finishes. The field tile has a long history in interiors due to their functional yet decorative qualities. Whether your kitchen style is contemporary, modern or an eclectic mix of both, you can be sure that field tiles will in, some way or other, work easily into your scheme.  Just take a look at the beautiful settings below that showcase how a simple field tile can complete a space. Installing field tiles in a grid layout is one of the most popular tiling methods, but field tiles can also be brick bonded to add an extra element of interest.     Be bold with a statement floor Flooring is fundamentally a functional design aspect in a room. It can often be overlooked in the design process or thought that functional needs to be plain to be practical. Nowadays this is no longer the case, recent years have seen vast developments in ink-jet printing – meaning beautiful patterns can be printed onto practical porcelain tiles! There’s a whole host of options out there from bold patterns (check out the Odyssey collection) to all sorts of heavily detailed wood and stone-effect tiles. For an authentic look, its worth considering Victorian Floor Tiles. There’s a wealth of patterns, designs and colours to choose from, all with the advantage of longevity due to their hard-wearing nature.  This means Victorian Floor tiles are perfectly suited to kitchens that endure high traffic, spills and the daily tread of busy families!      Experiment with layouts If you’ve opted for simple cabinetry or a more contemporary style, but you’re still looking to add that pop of interest, why not try tiling in a herringbone layout? Any brick tile can be ‘herringboned’ but it works especially well with ‘kit-kat’ style brick tiles that are long and thin. This is also a great way to introduce colour into scheme whilst including some texture and interest.    Feature walls The kitchen is the perfect place for a feature wall, especially if you’re looking for a way to inject a bit of personality and style into a practical space. You don’t need to tile entire walls, just the areas prone to spills and splashes making splashbacks a great place to start! Just take a look at our Mosaics collection and explore all sorts of colours, textures, patterns and shapes that are perfect for transforming a space. Shown below are Fable and Medine Mosaics, both made up of beautiful intricate patterns in a multiway of colours or a soft muted grey. For an even bolder look, explore our Odyssey collection, home to a huge variety of patterned tiles in a range of sizes.  If you still can’t decide on kitchen tiles, find your nearest Original Style retailer. Visiting your local tile showroom will allow you to appreciate the look and feel of a wide range of tiles and get help and advice from the experts Read more...
