  1. Paradis Mere is our Tile for the Year for 2023!

Paradis Mere is our Tile for the Year for 2023! Bold botanical palm leaves, gorgeous green tones and our signature glossy tile glaze – Paradis Mere is our Tile of the Year for 2023! We have been nominating a Tile of the Year for the last six years, choosing exclusive tiles like Paradis Mere that are truly unique and set to influence upcoming trends.Small in format but bold in design, Paradis Mere has four faces. Each face showcases more of the pattern, offering a varied abundance of tropical leaves. Inspired by gorgeous botanical gardens and the summer palms found in Devon’s local areas of outstanding beauty, Paradis Mere was a natural choice for our Tile of the Year 2023.Paradis Mere has been designed and developed in our Design Studio in Devon and is manufactured in Exeter by our skilled and passionate production team. Using some of the most authentic manufacturing processes and glaze recipes, this tile is truly unique. Each tile is hand-crafted by skilled artisans using the longstanding screen printing method which, together with its reactive inks, means each kiln produces a different effect, so no two tiles are the same.‘We really love the unpredictable, rustic nature of reactive print. Botanical motifs are here to stay for the foreseeable - palms especially. After spending time visiting local botanical gardens, we saw this project as the perfect opportunity to combine them both together to create Botanique Paradis! Designed, developed, and produced in our Devon factory, Botanique really embodies the skilled craftsmanship and passion that we have for creating new products at Original Style.’ Becca Keenan New Products Designer. Botanique Paradis Mere is a versatile product, create a range of different looks with this tile – whatever your style! For a rustic kitchen look, mix up the faces, using ‘Mere’ or the coordinating plain tile 'Cotton' from our Winchester collection, to break the pattern up and add a pop of colour. For something more edgy, try using Paradis inside a shower enclosure without any coordinating plain tiles mixed in. You could use ‘Mere’ to tile the rest of the room, or maybe even just choose some areas to create a zoned effect. For a subtle look, team with our new ‘Cotton’ field tiles, their soft white glaze coordinates perfectly with Paradis Mere.Paradis Mere is a brand new tile and its versatile design can be styled to create a range of different looks - contemporary or traditional. But, however you choose to style Paradis Mere, this tile will no doubt bring a unique, botanical touch to your interior décor and we hope it brings as much joy to you as creating it has to us! Outdoor Tiles, for your outdoor project! Opting for outdoor floor tiles will guarantee year-round style and practicality. Our showrooms offer a wide range of 2cm thick outdoor tiles in a range of colours, textures and sizes. Whether it’s a small patio or vast tiled space, there’s a tile for every outdoor project.   Small Spaces Large-format outdoor tiles are brilliant for revamping small gardens or terraces. Choosing a larger-sized tile will help to make the space appear bigger and less cluttered, thanks to fewer grout lines. Choose from dark grey and black shades for a contemporary and sleek feel or opt for lighter shades of grey and beige to create a bright and airy space.   Patios Outdoor porcelain tiles are perfect for patio areas. They often provide the basis for outdoor dining areas, BBQ’s and areas to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Tiles are a great choice for patios, their hardwearing properties mean they can endure the outdoor elements all year round – and they can transform any garden space. While square formats are still popular for patios we also love the use of rectangle tiles, laid in a brick-bond layout. This look creates a modern feel and adds detail without being overcomplicated.   Indoor - Outdoor Living With so many of us now looking to bring the indoors out, recent trends have seen the use of bi-folding doors that open out indoor spaces to outdoor terraces and gardens, for a continuous transition. 7. New Victorian Floor Tiles in three, beautiful pastel tones!

New Victorian Floor Tiles in three, beautiful pastel tones! Our iconic Victorian Floor Tile collection is home to an array of colours, shapes and even decorated tiles that make up a wealth of beautiful patterns and this summer, we’re delighted to announce the addition of three brand new colours, Carnation Pink, Hawthorn Yellow and Spring Green!   While Victorian Floor Tiles are popular in authentic colourways such as Black, White and Red, recent years have seen a rise in more contemporary colours such as greys and neutrals which are perfect for creating a new heritage style. With this in mind we wanted to offer even more choice in colourways, so that you can create striking, stylish and truly timeless Victorian Floor Tile patterns in a range of fresh, new colours. Launching new additions to our tile collections whilst our teams are working remotely is new to us, and you’ll notice that the imagery is different to our usual collections. Instead of photographing the new tiles in real life settings, we’ve created a series of inspirational flat-lay style mood-boards and sketches to showcase these stunning new colours! Our new pastel colourways open up a whole new world of design opportunities, they can be teamed with existing colours to create patterns that are as subtle or as bold as you like.   Carnation Pink and Hawthorn Yellow We’ve sketched a simple Revival Grey and pink checkerboard pattern (left) in a porch setting, these two colours create a new dynamic but still have the timeless feel Victorian Floor Tiles are renowned for. As shown on the right, this subtle pastel Yellow shade offers a fresh, modern twist on more traditional buffs and creams. We’ve sketched Hawthorn Yellow into our popular ‘Blenheim’ pattern and teamed with a modern Crittall style screen to create a contemporary style hallway and add some colour.   Spring Green Greens have always been popular in interior styling and over the last few years, homeowners are opting for more mint, sage and pastel tones. Spring Green is the perfect choice for those looking for a softer shade of green, take a look how it works beautifully with whites and greys in the Oxford pattern.   The introduction of these new Victorian Floor Tile colours opens up a whole host of design possibilities and we can’t wait until we are back in our photography studio to create beautiful and inspiring images to help you visualise these tiles in your home. In the meantime, we hope these sketches and mood-boards will help to inspire your next project! 9. Incorporating large format tiles into your home with our new Tileworks collection

Incorporating large format tiles into your home with our new Tileworks collection Large format contemporary tiles are still a popular choice for homeowners and there’s no sign of the trend slowing down any time soon! So, to keep our collection of large format, contemporary tiles up to date, we’ve refreshed it to include some truly beautiful new options, from gorgeous golden wood effect tones, to bang-on-trend terrazzo styles, there’s plenty to be inspired by.   Deciding on a kitchen style can be stressful, not only are there decisions to be made on cabinetry, colour schemes and fixtures and fittings, but consideration also needs to be given to practicality. Tiles are a natural choice for any kitchen, whether it’s contemporary or classic in style. For kitchens, large-format tiles are arguably the best choice. Larger surface areas and fewer grout lines make for easier cleaning, meaning they’re hygienic whilst remaining chic and stylish.   Featured above are Nord Ris - a cement effect tile in cool, soft tones of grey - and Kaamos, an elegant and refined stone look. Both options are perfect for floors, team them with natural colours and textures like wood, marble and exposed brick for a cool and contemporary look that also has a warm and welcoming feel.   Beautiful Bathrooms Bathrooms also benefit from the properties of large-format tiles, especially in smaller areas where they can make a room look much bigger than it really is, helping to create a sense of scale that doesn't naturally exist. But more obviously, their grand scale can really make a bathroom look amazing!   For a totally on-trend spa-style bathroom take a look at Mediterraneo. It's extra-large format (900 x 900mm) and has a light yet bold texture with a rustic feel available in three gorgeous shades. Use on walls and floors for a seamless look. For a really opulent feel check out Bianco Oro, a marble effect tile with beautiful gold veining. This highly polished glazed porcelain tile is available in two large format sizes (900x900mm and 1200x600mm) and perfect for those looking to create a luxurious feel. We’ve teamed it with Boreal Natural, a wood effect tile with widely varying faces, to add warmth and depth. If neither of those tick your boxes, try the soft travertine effects of Mescla. It's neutral tones and subtle texture effects will work in many bathroom settings. There’s also St Martin with subtle veining and sophisticated grey shades to fashion a high-end smooth finish.   Stylish Spaces If you’re looking to update your hallway, it’s really worth considering tiles; you only need to search for hallway ideas on Pinterest to see why so many people are installing tiles into their hallways. Not only do they look fantastic but they are also ideal for enduring the heavy traffic of everyday life. Below we’ve styled our Pietra Lombarda terrazzo style tiles with minimalist furniture and accessories for a sleek yet Scandi vibe. These tiles work well in open plan living, with beautiful detailing that replicates the 'Ceppo de Gré' style of natural stone which features large flecks and rich detailing. Large format tiles are also ideal for utility rooms and can be used on walls and floors to create stylish yet practical spaces. Peggy Grigio featured below has a buffed concrete texture and works well when teamed with neutral tones.   Take a look at our entire Tileworks collection and if you’ve already got your eye on something, visit your nearest local retailer for samples and more information Read more...
